Model R-550:

The R-550 is a hybrid of the PD-5800 and R-540. It uses the same body shape as the PD-5800 with the chrome-moly axle from the R-540, although the body is resin and not carbon like on the 105. The result is a pedal for cyclists looking for a lighter, more elegant and more refined option than the R-540. Spring tension is adjustable, allowing first-time users to select the easiest setting and build their confidence from there. The stainless steel plate on the body reduces flex and wear while being replaceable. The large body makes for good stability and efficient power transfer. Although the R-550 is aimed a recreational cyclists, it’s solid and durable enough to withstand the power of performance-oriented use.
